Bruce Taper Director
Bruce's track record of original thought and innovation over the past two decades has created a substantial legacy within the sustainability sector in Australia. His expertise lies in developing mechanisms to manage sustainability issues for both public and private sector entities and providing specialist advice firm
Recognised nationally for his work on climate related issues, Bruce is renowned for the magnitude of analysis he applies to all projects and his capacity to utilise emerging technologies to deliver smart, equitable and enabling solutions.
Since establishing Kinesis in 2007 Bruce has stewarded the delivery of game-changing work for clients, including the groundbreaking PRECINX rating tool for Landcom, and the Decentralised Energy Master Plan for the City of Sydney.
From 2000 to 2006, Bruce was Director Sustainability for the NSW Department of Planning where he conceived, led the development of and delivered the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX).
Bruce made a significant contribution to the NSW Greenhouse Plan and Metropolitan Water Strategy, and established and provided the executive support for the NSW Governmentâs Sustainability Advisory Council.
From 1996 to 2000, Bruce worked as a sustainability practitioner in local government, establishing Kogarah Council as a leader in urban renewal and environmental management. Bruce won the Planning Institute of Australiaâs 2005 National Award for Planning Excellence in the category of Urban Planning Achievement.
Before dedicating his professional career to sustainability, Bruce spent a decade in the energy sector, starting as an apprentice electrician and graduating to designing and building sub-stations.
Bruce has a 1st Class Honours degree in Environmental Science from the University of Newcastle.
David Holden
Climate Strategist â Urban Planning
With experience gained in the public and private sectors in Australia and the US on sustainable development planning and policy, David specialises in the analysis of data for planning policy, land use and transport, energy efficiency, renewable energy, water and stormwater to create sustainable urban forms that both mitigate, and are adaptable to, the climate problem.
Johnny Xu
Finance & Office Manager
After studying Finance at the University of Glasgow and University of Sydney, Johnny worked in the banking sector in Shanghai, China. Johnny joined our team in 2011 and now manages all aspects of our office operations.
Jun-Dir Liew
Software Engineer
Jun-Dir joined Kinesis in 2011 with a resume of experience working with databases, GIS, back and front end testing and optimisation. His skills and approach to development have brought additional maturity to our software engineering team, ensuring our online tools are secure, stable and well supported.
Lachlan Kranz
Sustainability Consultant
Lachlan's expertise is in environmental management and facilitating the integration of sustainability into corporate and governance frameworks. His skill-set in devising effective solutions for implementation complement his proven technical abilities in project management, data analysis and cost-benefit evaluations.
Matthew Sander
Policy Analyst
Matthew provides policy advice for our government and corporate clients. His recent work has included reviewing government policy positions, proposing new policy options to achieve ambitious emissions reductions and advising on the implementation of sustainability targets and assessment into an organisation's existing delivery framework.
Rob Helstroom
Principal Scientist
Rob holds a Ph.D in experimental atomic physics. His strong interest in high-energy electrical, electrostatic and magnetic systems and the physics of energy conversion processes, in tandem with his understanding of the science embodied in the processes that underlie the conversion of chemical fuels to mechanical and electrical energy, underpins much of his work in greenhouse and energy efficiency at Kinesis.
Tu Tu
Energy Engineer
Tu joined Kinesis in 2010 while still an honours student at the University of Sydney. His study targeted the analysis and maintenance of large scale electricity grids, generators and motors, foundations of renewable energy generation technologies, as well as solving problems in conventional small scale electronics circuitry. Tu is a gifted analyst who contributes significantly to our modelling tools and client work.
Wendy Bornholdt
Business Manager
Wendy joined Kinesis in 2007 to establish the systems and processes behind the scenes that support all aspects of the business. Her experience in business management and administration within the cultural sectors of NZ, UK and Europe brings an additional perspective to Kinesis, and equipped her to steward Kinesis from its fledgling beginnings in 2007 to become the successful business that it is today.
